This makes it one of the most important gems in the colored stone market. This 32-ct. Burmese ruby sold at Christie’s auction at almost doubled its pre-sale estimated worth of $20 million. 


Lily Safra’s (Brazilian lady whom married to the late banker Edmond Safra) jewelry auction continues its recording setting pace with the sale of a Burmese ruby diamond ring designed by Chaumet. The american billionaire's "The Hope Ruby" is a stone weighing a whopping 32 carats. The sale price at the Christies auction was $6,742,440. The most expensive JAR jewel was a ruby and diamond Camellia flower brooch that was created for Safra in 2003. Pave- set with rubies weighing 173.09 carats, it was sold for $4,319,591 exceeding an estimate of $1,200,000- $1,500,000.
